SK beat North; to DH Las Vegas final
SK Gaming are the second team through to the grand final of DreamHack Masters Las Vegas after beating North 2-0 (16-14 on Cache and 16-9 on Mirage).
Cache kicked off the series, with SK Gaming taking the pistol round on the defensive side after denying the Danes' A execute. The first full gun round did go North's way, but SK hit back right after with a double AWP setup.
SK added one more round to their tally to bring the scoreline to 5-1, but their run was brought to an end by Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke, who won a 1v2 clutch inside A. With no money in the bank, SK were forced to go on a double eco, but they were still able to take a round, courtesy of a triple from Fernando "fer" Alvarenga.
The Brazilian team remained in the driving seat and increased their lead to 8-3. North responded by picking up back-to-back rounds, with Marcelo "coldzera" David then winning a 1v3 clutch before the Danes won the final round of the half.
Up 9-6, SK further added to their lead by winning the pistol round with an A execute, with fer getting four kills to his name. After losing both ecos, North went on an amazing run, winning eight of the next nine rounds to take the lead for the first time in the match.
coldzera and fer starred as SK beat North
SK had no margin for error, but thankfully for them coldzera and fer had a massive round, getting two kills apiece to equalise the score at 14-14. That round helped SK swing the tides back against the Danes, who were now left strapped for cash, and they used that momentum in their favour, taking the final two rounds to lock down the map, 16-14.
SK started off strongly on the offensive side of Mirage, winning the first five rounds of the map. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen then went huge as he won a 1v3 clutch, with René "cajunb" Borg following it up with three AWP kills in the following round.
North went on to bring the deficit to a minimum, but SK were unwilling to let the map slide and regained control of the game, limiting their opponents to just six rounds by the end of the half.
North were no match for SK on Mirage, their own map pick
The Brazilian team then won yet another pistol round and the corresponding anti-ecos to bring the scoreline to a 12-6 advantage. North still tried to turn the game in gun play, but any round that they took was quickly countered with a round by SK, who would eventually take the map, 16-9.
Key Moment: Marcelo "coldzera" David's and fer's 2v2 afterplant in B at 13-14 to deny North the chance to reach map point and break the Danes' economy.
PotM: Marcelo "coldzera" David stepped up in the final rounds on Cache to inspire his team to win the map before putting in a dominant display on Mirage.
